• Antimicrobial feeders...a bit sketchy?.  Since we have discovered the requirement of Health Canada registration for antimicrobial feeders we have done some research into the active ingredient called triclosan.  After reading a few articles about this ingredient we have severe reservations about ever selling this product. You can decide for yourself...Google triclosan or click the links below:

• Droll Yankees and Microban tubes. Droll Yankees has introduced a new treated tube for a number of their products. We have been told by Health Canada that these products require government testing and registration to be eligible to sell in Canada. At this time these products have not been registered so we cannot import them. Otherwise we (and our stores) would be subject to fines and seizure of the products. The Microban products are shown below:

• Supplier News-Nelson Mfg. discontinuing heaters. Nelson Mfg. has advised us today that they are no longer making bird bath heaters. Until now they had originally made the Blue Devil heater then switching to the Gulf Stream heater. Therefore we still have the 300C by Allied .

• Supplier News-Duncraft discontinuing Wholesale. Duncraft have advised us that they are no longer selling their products wholesale.

June 21, 2011

• Supplier News. Martin House Garden Art has requested to suspend production for an undetermined amount of time. They have been consumed by obligations for large art installations and regional retail shows and have determined that one part of their business has to yield to these demands. Therefore the wholesale part of their business has been suspended. Derek has advised me that they are not ending wholesale completely but has asked to hold orders for a period.

• Supplier News.   Kay Home Products has acquired Woodlink. Kay Home Products now owns the following product lines: Heritage Farms (Century Tool), Cherry Valley, Artline (formerly Briggs), and now Woodlink. They also make camping equipment and other non related products.
